The age gate in front of 100+ Pernod Ricard sites, serving about 300k requests a day.
Every Pernod Ricard site has to check the visitor’s age before showing anything, and follow the legal drinking age of each country. From 2020 to 2023 I rebuilt the group’s age gate, and it ended up running on more than 100 sites.
One service for every brand
It’s a Nuxt and Vue front end with an Express service behind it. Instead of every brand building its own gate, they all load the same one.
Built for traffic
An age gate sits in front of the whole site, so it has to load fast and stay up. With caching in front it handled about 300,000 requests a day.
It made a difference
Brands that switched to the new age gate saw 8% more visitors make it through to the site.
